Basically you'd open File/Edit/View/etc menus and they would be condensed and only show you the menu options that you use the most frequently, and if you wanted to use something else you would have to expand the full menu. My favourite example is "Smart Menus" from Office 2000. Frankly, they simply tried way too hard to be 'smart'. IMO the main issue with Windows Search is the same as a lot of the "problems" with Microsoft software over the last few decades. If you enter a search "slowly" enough that it can display results, entering more text can be interpreted as you basically dismissing the current top result as irrelevant so it will sometimes prioritize other results instead. The order of results is based on usage and not only what you entered but even how you entered it.
